Fenix Arts and Mt. Sequoyah Creative Spaces are pleased to invite your participation into our third annual Queer exhibition!
Call for artist’s submissions of work for upcoming exhibit in June 2023.
Exhibit: June 1 – June 28, 2023

Panel Discussion: June 2, 2023
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The opening reception will be Thursday, June 1, from 5:30 – 8:30 pm, in conjunction with Fayetteville’s First Thursday events. A panel discussion featuring the artists will be held the next night Friday, June 2, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Closing date is June 28. The works will be exhibited in the Fenix Gallery.
This exhibition will be showcasing work by local queer artists, ages 19 and up. As well as displaying work from high school students and FYRE program; the after-school art class for queer youth ,12 to 18yrs, hosted by Fenix Arts during the school year. The theme Generations aims to illustrate the artist’s expression of their own queer experience; by exhibiting work from artists 12 and up, Generations hopes to give a fuller perspective of the queer journey over time. We will also be organizing and promoting events and resources for the LGBTQ+ community at the reception and throughout the month of June.
Queer artists from NWA, 19 and up, are invited to enter their visual art into the juried exhibition with cash awards of up to $500, the judge is TBA, and there is no entry fee.
The deadline for entries is May 10, 2023. You will be notified by May 10, 2023 of acceptance into the exhibition.
Artworks must have been completed within the past two years and should reflect some aspect of the queer experience. Please send images with title, media, size, and price (if for sale) information along with a brief bio, and artist statement about the piece(s) to fenixqueergenerations@gmail.com.
Artists may enter up to three works. 3-D artworks may include up to three views per artwork. Artists are encouraged to submit works that will be available for purchase. Fenix Arts will take a 40 percent commission on works sold during the exhibition. Works will not be accepted after the May 10, 2023, deadline.
Artworks must arrive at the Fenix Gallery by May 29. If hand delivering, gallery hours are Thursday and Friday 1-5pm, Saturday 12-6pm, and Sunday 1-4pm. The gallery is located in Millar Hall at Mount Sequoyah Center.
