Art Takes Flight
Exploratory Spring Break Art Camp
Date: March 20 – 24
Time: 9 am – Noon
Age: Kids 8-12
Itʼs time to set their creative side free! For kids between 8 and 12, Fenix Artʼs weeklong spring break camp gives students the chance to make art, make friends, and make memories. From pencils and paints to clay and collage, thereʼs so much to explore! All materials provided as well as a mid-morning snack.
CLASS SCHEDULE
MONDAY
Be a “Mad Potter” like George Ohr. Enjoy working with clay and learning pinch, coil and slab techniques in making creative containers as well as whimsical, fantastical fairy houses.
TUESDAY
Explore portraiture using a variety of styles and techniques. We will create Picasso-esque sculptures using the most unusual materials and learn the basics of facial proportions while painting an expressive Van Gogh style self-portrait.
WEDNESDAY
Collage like Matisse. Make your own collection of colorful, textured papers that will then be cut and pasted into a fantastical creature collage. Warning – could be messy!
THURSDAY
Printing processes are perfect for kids. Students will explore and experiment with different relief printing and monotype processes to create prints that use expression, abstraction and realism.
FRIDAY
Previously completed sculptures and clay projects will be transferred into colorful finished artworks ready to display in the gallery along with participantsʼ collages and portraits. Each camper will create their own gallery display and invite parents and family to enjoy refreshments at their own Opening Reception.
