CHUCK DAVIS
Chuck Davis is a visual artist and independent curator whose first exhibition was in 1976 at the Allen Street Gallery in Dallas Texas. With a career of nearly one hundred nationwide exhibits, in 2022 his solo show at the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum was displayed alongside surrealist photographer Eva Rubinstein. Predominantly working as a lens-based artist, he began as a photojournalist, blurring the lines between personal vision and editorial portrayal. With a BAFA in Photo History from the University of New Mexico, he also has an MFA from Lesley Art + Design, and studied journalism at the University of Missouri – Columbia.
Since arriving in Arkansas in 2010, his work observes generational tension between new and native residents of the Ozarks and the lands once described as Indian Territory.
Chuck recently curated the international exhibit, The Hand at Fenix Arts, celebrating analog photography and printmaking with entries from 26 states and five countries.
